The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney has just joined The Commons project at Flickr and added some 200 photos from around Sydney and New South Wales from the turn of the 20th century. The first member of The Commons was the Library of Congress in the USA. They have added over 3,000 high quality photos to Flickr, and left the tagging to users. All the photos are copyright free, and this makes it a truly amazing public repository of history on film. Do yourself a favour and spend some time looking through the photos at The Commons on Flickr, it is truly amazing. History and geography teachers, I recommend you go grab a spoon and dig in.
